Biography:
Hobbes is the deuteragonist in the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, created by Bill Watterson. He first appeared alongside Calvin in the strip's debut on November 18, 1985.
Hobbes is depicted as a stuffed tiger. However, Calvin perceives him as a real, sentient tiger, a manifestation of Calvin's imagination and a commentary on the subjectivity of reality. To other characters in the strip, Hobbes remains an inanimate toy.
Hobbes is characterized by his sardonic wit, philosophical musings, and a more rational, grounded perspective compared to Calvin's boundless energy and fantastical imagination. He often serves as Calvin's foil, offering a contrasting viewpoint and sometimes acting as his conscience.
